Field Day

The ROOST participated with an estimated 40,000 other single and multiple operator Amateur Radio stations in the ARRL's "2008 Ride the Wave Field Day."

The purpose of Field Day is to work as many stations as possible on amateur radio bands and in doing so learn to operate in abnormal situations in less than optimal conditions. A premium is placed on developing skills to meet the challenges of emergency preparedness as well as to acquaint the general public with the capabilities of Amateur Radio. This "training" is in preparation to deploying the communications support in disaster relief efforts such as needed during hurricanes, tornados, flooding and like disaster relief efforts.

This year's participants were WA5KRP, K5LEH, K5VCR, KD5YZU, N5YER, WF5Y, K0ZGC, KC5MIP, KE5QFC, K5BFW, KD5TNI, KE5SXR, W5SEA, W9HIX, KE5QZU, and KB5ZPZ
